What F02 actually means

The hob's touch controls have failed a self-check — one of the capacitive sensors behind the glass isn't reading correctly, so the hob shuts the controls down.

On these Grundig induction hobs the touch panel is a separate board bonded under the glass, and it checks its own sensors on power-up and during use. If a sensor gives a reading outside the expected range — a calibration problem or a faulty capacitive pad — the control board reports F02 and refuses to accept commands, so zones either won't light or won't respond to the plus and minus pads. The fault points at the touch control board itself rather than the induction (power) board.

What F02 looks like on a Grundig hob

What usually causes it

A failed capacitive sensor pad in the touch control board
The touch board losing its calibration, often after a mains spike or power cut
Water, spilled liquid or grease sitting across the control area confusing the sensors
Something resting on the controls — a pan handle, a cloth, a phone — held against a pad
Moisture that has crept under the glass around the control area

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the hob off at the wall or the switch for a minute, then back on — a knocked-out calibration sometimes clears on a fresh start
Wipe the control area completely dry and clean; even a thin film of water or grease across two pads can trip a sensor fault
Make sure nothing is lying on or leaning against the touch panel, including a pan overhanging the controls
If you have recently cleaned the hob, let it dry fully before trying again
