What is actually happening
On a conventional dryer this is usually a failed element or a tripped thermal cut-out, and the cut-out normally trips because airflow was restricted — so replacing the part without clearing the fluff simply repeats the fault. On a heat pump dryer there is no element at all, and a dryer that runs a full cycle without heat and reports nothing is a different diagnosis entirely.
The Hisense fault codes that point at this
A Hisense tumble dryer will usually tell you what it thinks is wrong before anyone opens it up. These are the codes we hold for this make that relate to not heating:
- F01 — The machine has asked for water and not received enough of it in the time it expects, so it has stopped and put F01 on the display.
- F04 — The machine's control electronics have flagged an internal fault and halted the cycle.
- F14 — The machine has finished with the door locked and the lock won't release, so the door stays shut and the cycle stops.
- F21 — The control panel you press the buttons on has lost proper communication with the main power board inside the dryer, so the machine won't take its instructions.
- F50 — The dryer has decided one of its sensors is giving a reading it can't trust, so it has stopped the cycle rather than carry on drying blind.
- F51 — The dryer has lost a sensible reading from one of its sensors and has shut the cycle down rather than carry on drying blind.
- F98 — The machine's control electronics have reported a fault they can't recover from, so the cycle has been abandoned.

The usual causes on a Hisense tumble dryer
- A failed heating element

- A blocked lint filter, condenser or vent hose restricting air

- Check the vent hose is not crushed, kinked or full of fluff
- Note whether it is a heat pump model — the diagnosis and the cost are quite different
