Beko E08 washer dryer: what it means & what to check

What E08 actually means

The machine has given up waiting for the water level to reach where it should be, so the cycle stops.

During filling, the control board watches the water level and expects it to rise within a set time. On E08 it either sees no rise at all, or sees water going out as fast as it comes in. Beko's own service notes list four causes for this code: the water supply being cut off, an open circuit on the valve triac (the switch on the board that powers the inlet valve), a short circuit on the pump triac that leaves the drain pump running non-stop, or a faulty water level switch. The tell-tale is what the machine is doing when it faults or if the drum is dry, it's a fill problem; if it keeps draining, the pump side is the suspect.

What E08 looks like on a Beko washer dryer

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Beko washer dryer, E08 usually shows up as one or more of these:

Machine not draining
Water left in the drum at the end of the cycle
Stops mid-cycle full of water
Standing water in the bottom
Not filling with water

What usually causes it

Water supply turned off, or a kinked or crushed fill hose
Blocked filter in the inlet hose or very low mains pressure
Drain pump running constantly, so the drum never holds water
Faulty inlet valve, or the board circuit that switches it
Water level (pressure) switch giving a false reading

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Check the cold tap feeding the machine is fully open and the household supply is on
Look along the fill hose behind the machine for kinks or the hose being pinned against the wall
Make sure the drain hose isn't pushed too far down the standpipe, which can siphon water straight back out
Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power up and start a short cycle to see whether water enters the drum at all
Note what happens when it faults no water arriving, or water constantly running away as that tells the engineer which half of the fault to look at
