What E23 actually means

Open the door and check nothing is caught between the door and the rubber seal, then close it firmly until you hear it click
Look at whether the door sits flush when shut, or drops/rubs against the frame — a sagging door often stops the switch making contact
Turn the machine off at the socket for a minute and back on, then try a short programme; a one-off glitch will clear
Avoid cramming the drum so the load pushes against the door
