Beko E41 washer dryer: what it means & what to check

What E41 actually means

The fan that moves hot air through the drum during drying has stopped working properly, so the machine has abandoned the drying part of the cycle.

On these Beko washer dryers the drying air is pushed round by what the manufacturer calls the process fan, and the control board watches whether that fan is actually shifting enough air. If the fan doesn't run, or runs but the airflow is too weak, the machine flags E41 and shuts drying down rather than carry on heating air that isn't moving. Washing itself is normally unaffected \, it's the hot-air side that has failed.

What E41 looks like on a Beko washer dryer

What usually causes it

The fan motor itself has failed or seized
A loose or damaged plug on the fan connection
A faulty fan capacitor, so the motor buzzes or won't start turning
The condenser blocked with fluff and lint, choking the airflow
The fan's own thermal cut-out having tripped after overheating

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and try a drying cycle again \, worth doing once, in case it's a one-off reading
Check you haven't tried to dry too big a load; overloading restricts airflow and can bring the fault on
Clean the pump filter at the bottom front and make sure the drain hose isn't kinked, so the machine isn't struggling to clear water before drying starts
Use the machine for washing only until it's looked at, if you need it in the meantime
