On this Beko washer dryer the drying side relies on two fans: one pushing hot air through the drum and a second cooling fan that chills the condenser so the moisture drops out of the air. E42 is the code for the cooling fan side of that system — the control board has either seen no feedback from the fan, or seen the drying temperatures climb in a way that says the cooling airflow isn't there. What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and try a short drying cycle — a one-off overheat trip can clear.
- Clean the lint/pump filter at the bottom front and refit it properly; restricted airflow is a common trigger.
- Don't run a drying programme on an empty drum — the documents note that the machine will register overheating faults if drying is started with no laundry inside.
- Make sure the machine has clear space around it and isn't drawing warm air from an enclosed cupboard.
- Check the cold tap is on and the fill hose isn't kinked — the condenser is rinsed with water during drying.
