What E25 actually means
The control panel and the machine's main circuit board have stopped talking to each other.
Your washing machine has two electronic boards: the one behind the buttons and display, and the main board that actually runs the motor, pump and valves. E25 means the display board is no longer receiving messages from the main board, usually because a plug has worked loose, a cable has failed, or one of the boards has lost its low-voltage supply. With no communication the machine won't start a programme, or will cut a cycle short.
What usually causes it
- A loose or partly unseated plug between the display and main board
- Damaged or chafed wiring between the two boards
- Loss of the 5-volt supply from the power board
- A failed main (driver) board
- A failed display board
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall socket, leave it for a couple of minutes, then switch back on — this clears a one-off glitch
- Check the machine is on a proper wall socket rather than an extension lead or adaptor
- Try starting a short programme to see if the code returns straight away

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above.
