What F01 actually means

The machine has lost a sensible reading from its water temperature sensor, or the heating circuit it checks alongside it, so it stops rather than trying to heat the wash.

This code starts at the NTC temperature sensor and the heater circuit — the control board is seeing either a dead short or no continuity at all where it expects a temperature reading, or an open heating element. Because the machine cannot tell how hot the water is, it will not energise the heater, and the cycle is halted instead. Owners usually notice it after the machine has filled and started to wash, and the drum contents come out cold if the cycle does run on.
