What E94 actually means
The washer dryer has found that the wash programme data stored in its own memory doesn't match the check figure it expects, so it refuses to start any cycle.
Every time it powers up, the main control board reads its stored configuration and works out a checksum for it, then compares that with the checksum written alongside. The cycle configuration is held in two parts and both must agree; if either doesn't, the board treats the programme data as unreliable and blocks the machine, showing E94. It's a software/configuration fault rather than a mechanical one — nothing to do with pumps, filters or the door.
What E94 looks like on a Electrolux washer dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Electrolux washer dryer, E94 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Machine door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut
- Door lock light flashing
- Door stuck shut with the load inside
- Won't start even with the door closed
- No function at all
- Dead — nothing lights up
- Lights flashing and nothing happening
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- Corrupted cycle configuration data in the control board's memory
- A read error from the board's memory chip after a power interruption or supply spike
- The wrong configuration file loaded onto the board — often after a control board has been replaced and not set up for the exact model
- A failing main control board
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall socket, leave it a minute, then switch back on — the checksum is only tested at power-up, and a one-off read error can clear
- If the code returns immediately every time you power up, stop there; there is nothing further you can safely do
Which Electrolux models show E94
E94 means the same thing on all 2 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.

Can I fix Electrolux E94 myself?
There are 2 checks you can safely do yourself first.
- Turn the machine off at the wall socket, leave it a minute, then switch back on — the checksum is only tested at power-up, and a one-off read error can clear.
- If the code returns immediately every time you power up, stop there; there is nothing further you can safely do.
