What F06 actually means
The oven's own control board is reporting that the temperature sensor fitted to it is giving a reading that makes no sense, so the oven shuts the heating down.
On these Electrolux ovens the power board carries a small NTC sensor that watches how hot the electronics behind the fascia are getting. If that reading falls outside the range the board expects — usually an open or short circuit in the sensor, or genuine overheating behind the panel — the control stops the cycle and shows this code rather than risk cooking its own electronics. It normally appears once the oven has been running long enough to warm up, rather than the moment you switch on.
What usually causes it
- The tangential cooling fan not running, so heat builds up behind the fascia
- The board-mounted temperature sensor reading out of range or failed
- Vents above or below the oven door blocked, trapping hot air
- Poor ventilation in the housing unit — oven boxed in too tightly
- A failed power board
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the oven off at the wall for a minute, then back on — an occasional one-off reading can clear.
- Listen after a normal bake: you should hear the cooling fan running. If it is silent, that is worth mentioning when you book.
- Check the vent slots around the oven door and above the fascia are clear of foil, tea towels or baked-on grease.
- If the oven sits under a hob or in a tight cabinet, make sure nothing is stuffed in the gap around it.
