What F11 actually means

The oven has a problem with the food (meat) probe circuit and has shut the cooking function down rather than carry on with a reading it doesn't trust.

On Electrolux ovens with the standard power board, the F11 family of alarms relates to the meat probe input — the socket and sensor you plug the temperature spike into. The control board is seeing a signal from that circuit which is outside the range it expects (often a short or moisture across the contacts), so it stops the programme and puts the code up, usually displayed as F111 on the interface. It tends to appear as soon as core-temperature cooking is selected, or partway through a probe-controlled programme.

What usually causes it

  • Moisture or steam in the meat probe socket after a wet cook or a clean
  • The probe or its lead damaged, kinked at the plug, or the plug not pushed fully home
  • A faulty meat probe sensor
  • Corroded or damaged probe socket in the cavity wall
  • Fault on the oven's power board reading the probe input

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Unplug the meat probe, check the lead and plug for obvious damage, and leave the socket to dry out fully
  2. Turn the oven off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and see if the code clears
  3. Try a normal cooking function without the probe plugged in — if that runs fine, the fault is in the probe circuit
  4. If you have a second probe for the same model, try it instead

When to call someone

This sometimes clears with the checks above. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
