What F24 actually means
The oven's control panel has lost track of what state the oven is in, so it has shut the heating side down as a precaution.
This is an internal control fault on the Smart Board rather than something mechanical. When the user interface can't make sense of the state reported back to it, it sends a shut-off command to the oven's power board and puts this code up. Electrolux's own documentation says the message stays on screen until the oven is switched off by the user, so it won't clear on its own.
What usually causes it
- A one-off communication glitch between the control panel and the oven's power board
- Interference or a brief power dip while the oven was running
- Loose or degraded connections between the two boards
- A failing Smart Board or oven power board
- Mismatched or corrupted control software after a board change
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the oven off at the wall for a minute, then back on — this code needs a full power-down to clear, and a genuine one-off will not come back
- Once it's running again, note whether it fails from cold, mid-cook, or only on a particular function, and tell the engineer
- If it faults straight away every time, leave it switched off at the wall
