What F36 actually means
The oven has a problem with its food (meat) probe system — the control board isn't getting the right configuration information from the probe module, so it stops rather than cook blind.
This code only appears on Electrolux ovens fitted with a food probe. The oven's controller checks the probe module when it powers up and during use; if that module doesn't report itself correctly, the alarm is raised and cooking is halted. In practice the fault usually sits in the probe module itself or the cable running to it from the power board, not in the oven's heating side.
What usually causes it
- Food probe module has failed or lost its settings
- Damaged or loose cable between the power board and the probe module
- Probe socket in the cavity damaged, or a probe left plugged in and knocked about
- One-off electronic glitch that clears on a full power reset
- Power board fault (less common)
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Unplug the food probe from its socket in the oven cavity if one is fitted, then close the door.
- Turn the oven off at the wall for at least 30 seconds — a full minute is fine — then switch back on and see if the code clears.
- Check the probe lead and plug for obvious kinks, crushing or melted insulation; don't use it if it is damaged.
