What F94 actually means
The oven's temperature sensor is giving a reading outside the range the control board expects, so the oven is warning you it can't trust the temperature it's measuring.
Electrolux ovens use a PT500 sensor in the cavity to tell the control board how hot it is. F94 is the warning stage — the board has seen a reading outside the valid range. If the fault is still there after about five minutes, the board shuts off the heating and the code steps up to the full out-of-range alarm (shown as F4/F104 on some displays), at which point the oven won't heat at all.
What usually causes it
- The PT500 cavity temperature sensor itself has failed or drifted out of range
- A damaged or corroded plug on the sensor lead behind the oven
- A chafed or broken sensor wire, often where it passes into the cavity
- A fault on the oven control board so it misreads a healthy sensor
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the oven off at the wall for a minute, then back on — if the reading was a one-off glitch the warning may clear
- Note whether the oven still heats and whether the code returns to F4 or F104 after a few minutes; that's useful information for the engineer
- Check nothing has been left leaning on or trapping the sensor probe inside the cavity
