What C06 actually means
The oven has spotted a problem with its cooling fan and shut things down to avoid overheating.
Electrolux ovens run a fan that pulls air through the appliance to keep the controls and surrounding cabinetry cool. When the control board sees that fan blocked, stalled or not reporting as running, it flags this fault and stops heating rather than letting temperatures climb. You'll typically see it appear part way through a bake, often with the oven going quiet and cold.
What usually causes it
- Cooling fan blocked or jammed so it cannot spin freely
- Fan obstructed by debris or grease build-up around the vents
- Failed cooling fan motor
- Fault on the oven's power board, which can report a fan problem that isn't there
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the oven off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up — if the code was a one-off it may clear
- Check the vent slots (usually above the door or at the rear) are not blocked by trays, foil, or a tea towel
- Make sure nothing is packed tight against the back or sides of the oven inside the housing, restricting airflow
