What F01 actually means
The oven thinks its door lock hasn't engaged properly, so it won't carry on.
On ovens with a pyrolytic (high-temperature) cleaning cycle, the door has to lock shut before the oven will run that cycle. F01 is the door lock sensor alarm — the control board asked for the door to lock and never got confirmation that it had, so it stops and shows the fault. It can be the lock motor, the switch that confirms the lock, or the wiring between them and the board.
What usually causes it
- Door not fully closed, or something in the way of it shutting
- Faulty door lock motor or catch mechanism
- Lock confirmation switch or sensor failed
- Broken or loose wiring between the lock and the control board
- Control board fault
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Take everything out of the oven and check the door closes fully with nothing catching on shelves, trays or the seal
- Wipe any baked-on grease or debris off the door edge and the frame around the latch
- Turn the oven off at the wall for a minute, then back on, and see if the code clears
- If the fault only appears when you start the pyrolytic clean, try a normal cooking programme to see whether that still works
When to call someone
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.
Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
