Electrolux F25 oven: what it means & what to check

What F25 actually means

The oven has found that its own electronics are running too hot and has shut the heating down to protect itself.

There is a temperature sensor (an NTC) fitted on the oven's power board, behind the control panel. When it reads a temperature above the safe limit, the control cuts the heating and shows this code rather than carry on and cook its own circuitry. In practice it usually appears part-way through a bake or a long high-temperature cook, once heat has had time to build up around the controls.

What usually causes it

The cooling fan that draws air across the controls has stopped running
Airflow around the control panel or vents blocked by trapped grease or debris
Oven built into a tight housing with the vent path obstructed
The temperature sensor on the power board reading falsely high
A failed power board

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the oven off at the wall for a minute, then back on — if the board had simply overheated it may clear once cool
Let the oven cool completely with the door open before trying again
Listen after switching on: you should hear the cooling fan running. If it is silent, that is your likely culprit and needs an engineer
Check the vent slots above or below the door are not blocked by foil, trays or baked-on grease
If the oven is under a hob or in a fitted housing, make sure nothing is stuffed around it restricting airflow
