Electrolux F95 microwave: what it means & what to check

What F95 actually means

The oven's cavity temperature sensor is reporting a temperature that is too high, so the appliance has shut the heating down to protect itself.

This model uses a PT500 platinum temperature sensor to track the oven cavity temperature. F95 is raised when the reading from that sensor goes above the safe limit the control board will accept — it is a genuine over-temperature alarm rather than a wiring or out-of-range fault, which have their own codes. On the user interface it may appear with an extra digit (as F195), where the added number tells the engineer which board the fault was seen on, in this case the oven power board.

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the appliance off at the wall, leave it for a few minutes with the door open so any residual heat can escape, then switch back on and see if the code returns
Check the ventilation gaps around the housing are not blocked by tea towels, packaging or stored items
Note whether the fault appears straight away from cold or only after the oven has been heating for a while — that is genuinely useful information for the engineer
