What E10 actually means
The temperature sensor for the convertible "Joker" multizone compartment — the drawer you can switch between fridge and freezer settings — has stopped giving the control board a sensible reading.
Each compartment has its own air sensor telling the control board how cold it actually is. On E10 the board has lost a believable signal from the multizone drawer's air sensor, so it can no longer control that zone properly and flags the fault, usually with the code flashing on the display. The freezer and fridge sections generally carry on running, but the multizone drawer may drift off its set temperature or stop cooling to the setting you chose.
What E10 looks like on a Flavel fridge freezer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Flavel fridge freezer, E10 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Fridge freezer door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut
- Door lock light flashing
- Door stuck shut with the load inside
- Won't start even with the door closed
- Not heating the water
- Washing coming out cold
- Cycle takes far longer than it should
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- The multizone compartment's air sensor has failed
- A loose or disconnected plug on the sensor wiring
- Damaged sensor cable inside the cabinet
- Fault on the control board reading the sensor
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the appliance off at the socket for a minute, then back on — if the code was a one-off glitch it will clear
- Check nothing is packed against the vents inside the multizone drawer, and that the drawer and door close fully
- Reselect the temperature or zone setting for that compartment and see whether the code returns straight away
Which Flavel models show E10
E10 means the same thing on all 2 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
