What E14 actually means
The fan that circulates cold air through the convertible "MultiZone" compartment isn't reporting back that it's turning, so the control board has flagged it.
These fridge freezers use a fan to push chilled air into the multi-purpose zone — the drawer or compartment you can switch between fridge and freezer temperatures. That fan has a feedback wire that tells the board how fast it is spinning, and if the board stops receiving that signal it logs E14. The rest of the appliance normally keeps running, but the flexible zone will drift off temperature because nothing is moving cold air through it.
What E14 looks like on a Flavel fridge freezer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Flavel fridge freezer, E14 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Fridge freezer door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut
- Door lock light flashing
- Door stuck shut with the load inside
- Won't start even with the door closed
- Fridge freezer not draining
- Water left in the machine at the end of the cycle
- Stops mid-cycle full of water
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- Fan blades jammed by a build-up of frost or ice in the compartment
- Food, packaging or a misplaced drawer blocking the air outlet
- Worn or seized fan motor in the multizone section
- Loose or damaged plug on the fan's feedback wiring
- Control board no longer reading the fan's speed signal
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Take out the contents of the flexible compartment and check nothing is pressed against the air vents at the back
- Look for heavy frost or ice inside that compartment — if it is iced up, empty it and let it defrost fully with the door open before restarting
- Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power back up and see whether the code returns
- Keep door openings short and don't put warm food straight in while the fault is present, as that makes the temperature drift worse
Which Flavel models show E14
E14 means the same thing on all 2 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.

Can I fix Flavel E14 myself?
There are 4 checks you can safely do yourself first.
- Take out the contents of the flexible compartment and check nothing is pressed against the air vents at the back.
- Look for heavy frost or ice inside that compartment — if it is iced up, empty it and let it defrost fully with the door open before restarting.
- Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power back up and see whether the code returns.
- Keep door openings short and don't put warm food straight in while the fault is present, as that makes the temperature drift worse.
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried them.

Tried the checks and it's still showing E14?
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. Then it wants someone who can open it up.
