What E17 actually means
The control board has lost the feedback signal from the flap fan \u2014 one of the small fans that pushes chilled air through the cabinet \u2014 so it has flagged a fault.
Flavel's control board monitors fan speed on fans that report back to it, and E17 is raised specifically against the flap fan. When the board no longer sees that feedback, either because the fan has stalled, is running slowly or has lost its signal, it logs the error. The fridge freezer will normally keep running and cooling, but air distribution to that section can be poor, so temperatures drift and the high-temperature warning may follow.
What E17 looks like on a Flavel fridge freezer

- Check nothing is pressed against the air vents inside the cabinet \u2014 leave a gap around them and don't overfill shelves
- Look for obvious frost or ice building up around the vents or the back wall inside; heavy icing often sits behind fan errors
- Make sure the doors are closing fully and the seals are clean, as warm air getting in causes frost that jams fans
- Avoid putting hot food straight in and keep door openings brief while the fault is present
- Switch off at the wall for a minute, then back on \u2014 if the fan frees itself the code may clear
