Hisense F03 washer dryer: what it means & what to check

What F03 actually means

The machine cannot get the water out of the drum, so it has stopped the cycle rather than carry on with a tub full of water.

Hisense lists F03 as a water discharge fault. The control board expects the water level to drop within a set time once the drain pump runs, and when it doesn't see that happen it halts the programme — usually at the end of the wash, before or during the spin, which is why owners typically find standing water in the drum and soaking wet laundry. On these washer dryers the drying part won't work properly either until the water is cleared.

What F03 looks like on a Hisense washer dryer

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Hisense washer dryer, F03 usually shows up as one or more of these:

Water left in the drum at the end of the cycle

What usually causes it

Blocked pump filter at the front bottom of the machine — coins, hair grips, tissue, lint
Drain hose kinked, crushed behind the machine or pushed too far into the standpipe
Blockage in the household waste pipe or sink trap the machine drains into
Worn or jammed drain pump, often with something wedged in the impeller
Faulty pressure sensor telling the board the drum is still full when it has actually emptied

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the machine off at the socket for a minute, then switch back on and try a spin or drain programme on its own.
Clean the pump filter behind the flap at the bottom front. Have a shallow tray and towels ready — there will be a lot of water, and let it cool first if you have been washing hot.
Pull the machine out gently and check the drain hose isn't kinked, squashed against the wall or trapped under a foot.
If it drains into a sink standpipe, check that pipe isn't slow or blocked — a blocked kitchen waste will stop the machine emptying even though nothing is wrong with the appliance.
Take a heavy load out and try again; an oversized load of towels can hold enough water to slow the drain right down.
