Hisense F24 washer dryer: what it means & what to check

What F24 actually means

The machine has detected more water inside it than it should have and has stopped filling to prevent it flooding out.

Hisense uses F24 for an overflow condition: the water level sensing tells the control board the drum has taken on too much water, so the programme halts rather than carrying on. Either more water has come in than was asked for, or the machine cannot get rid of what it has, and the sensing circuit reads a level above the safe limit. The manual is blunt about it — if it keeps overflowing after a restart, shut the tap off and get it looked at, because water on the floor is the next step.

What F24 looks like on a Hisense washer dryer

What usually causes it

Water still trickling in when the machine isn't asking for it, because the inlet valve isn't shutting fully
The pressure system that measures water level giving a false high reading, often through a blocked or damp pressure hose
Water not draining away properly, so the level never drops and reads as overflow
Too much detergent creating a mass of foam the level sensing reads as excess water
Control board misreading the level signal

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Pause the programme and restart it once — the manual allows for this, and a one-off false reading does sometimes clear.
Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then back on.
Turn the water tap off if you can see or hear water still entering the drum with the machine switched off. That is a genuine overflow and it will not stop on its own.
Check the drain hose isn't kinked or crushed behind the machine.
Clean the pump filter at the bottom front and make sure water drains away normally.
Cut your detergent right back for the next wash if you've been using a lot — heavy foam can trigger a false level reading.
