Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What F03 actually means

The machine can't get the water out, so it has stopped mid-cycle.

Your Hisense has tried to pump the drum empty and the water level hasn't dropped in the time it expects, so it halts the programme to avoid washing on with a full drum. It's almost always a blockage or a restriction somewhere between the drum and the drain, rather than a fault with the machine itself.

What usually causes it

  • Blocked pump filter at the bottom front of the machine (coins, buttons, hair, fluff)
  • Kinked, squashed or trapped drain hose
  • Blocked sink standpipe or drain the hose empties into
  • Drain hose pushed too far into the standpipe, or run too high
  • Faulty drain pump

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall before doing anything.
  2. Clean the pump filter behind the small flap at the bottom front — have a shallow tray and towels ready, as water will come out.
  3. Check the drain hose isn't kinked, crushed behind the machine or trapped against a wall.
  4. Pour a jug of water down the sink or standpipe the hose drains into to check it runs away freely.
  5. Leave the machine off at the wall for a minute, then restart and select a spin or drain cycle.

When to call someone

This sometimes clears with the checks above. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
