What F14 actually means
The machine can't release the door lock, so the door stays shut at the end of the cycle.
Hisense washing machines lock the door electrically while running and release it once the drum has stopped and the water is out. F14 means the machine has told the lock to release but hasn't had confirmation that it did, so it halts and holds the door closed rather than pretending it's safe to open.
What usually causes it
- Door still holding water or heat, so the lock hasn't released yet
- Door handle or catch slightly out of line, jamming the lock
- Worn or sticking door lock mechanism
- Faulty wiring or connection to the door lock
- Control board not reading the lock's signal
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Give it a few minutes — many machines keep the door locked for a short period after the cycle ends
- Turn the machine off at the wall, wait a minute, switch back on and try the door
- Press gently on the middle of the door while trying to open it, in case the catch is under tension
- If there's water in the drum, run a drain or spin cycle before trying again
- Check nothing (clothing, a stray sock) is trapped in the door seal or catch
