What F22 actually means
The washing machine's main control board has lost communication with the motor control board, so it stops rather than risk running the drum blind.
Two separate boards run a Hisense washer: the main power/control board and the motor (frequency conversion) board that actually drives the drum. F22 appears when the two stop talking to each other, so the machine has no way of knowing what the motor is doing and halts the programme. Hisense's own notes say the alarm clears itself automatically if communication comes back, which is why a machine can throw F22 once and then behave normally for weeks.
What usually causes it
- A loose or partly unplugged communication connector between the two boards
- A one-off electrical glitch or power dip during the cycle
- Damage to the wiring loom running between control board and motor board
- A failed motor control (inverter) board
- A failed main power/control board
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Switch the machine off at the wall, leave it a minute, then power up and restart the programme — Hisense's first instruction, and it does clear the occasional one-off
- If it restarts and finishes normally, note the date; a single occurrence is often nothing, a repeat pattern is not

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above.
