What F01 actually means

The machine isn't getting enough water in the time it expects, so it has stopped the cycle.

F01 is a water inflow fault. The washer starts filling and monitors the water level; if it doesn't reach the level needed within the expected time, it halts the programme rather than running the drum dry. Nine times out of ten it's a supply problem rather than a fault inside the machine.

What usually causes it

  • Water tap behind the machine turned off or only part open
  • Kinked or trapped water inlet hose
  • Blocked filter net where the hose screws onto the tap or machine
  • Low mains water pressure, or the supply frozen in cold weather
  • Faulty water inlet valve or pressure sensor inside the machine

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Check the tap feeding the machine is fully open and water is flowing elsewhere in the house
  2. Look along the fill hose for kinks or crushing where the machine has been pushed back
  3. In cold weather, let a frozen supply pipe thaw naturally before trying again
  4. Press Start/Pause to restart once you've sorted the supply
  5. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power up and run a short cycle

When to call someone

This sometimes clears with the checks above. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
