What F02 actually means
The machine has detected too much water inside the drum and stopped to avoid overflowing.
Hisense uses F02 (and F24 on some models) for an overflow condition — the water level sensor is reading above the safe maximum. That can be genuine over-filling, or a mass of foam fooling the sensor, or a fault on the control board. Either way the washer halts the programme rather than risk water on your floor.
What usually causes it
- Too much detergent, so the drum fills with foam
- Water not draining away, so the level keeps rising
- A water inlet valve leaking water in when it shouldn't
- Faulty pressure/water level sensor giving a false reading
- Control board fault
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and see if it clears
- Check the drain hose isn't kinked, crushed behind the machine or pushed too far down the standpipe
- Clean the pump filter at the bottom front (with the machine switched off) to rule out a blockage
- Run a rinse-and-spin with no detergent — if it was excess foam, it should clear
- Next wash, use the correct dose of detergent for your water hardness and load size
