What E07 actually means

The dryer isn't getting enough air through it, and it's blaming a blocked fluff filter.

On these Hoover condenser dryers, E07 is an airflow alarm that appears at the end of a cycle rather than partway through. The machine has noticed the air isn't moving freely — usually because fluff has clogged the door filter — so it drops from full power to reduced power and flags the code. Drying takes far longer while this is happening, which is often the first thing owners notice.

What usually causes it

  • Fluff-clogged door filter
  • Condenser unit blocked with lint at the bottom of the machine
  • Fluff built up inside the drum surround and air ducts
  • Dryer pushed tight against a wall or in a cupboard with no air around it
  • Fan blocked or not turning properly

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Take out the door filter, rinse it under the tap, dry it fully and refit it — do this every load, not occasionally
  2. Clean the condenser filter/unit behind the lower flap at the front (it lifts out by hand on these models) and rinse it through
  3. Wipe visible fluff from the filter housing and around the door seal
  4. Pull the dryer away from the wall a little so it can draw and expel air
  5. Switch off at the wall for a minute, then run a short cycle to see whether the code returns

When to call someone

This sometimes clears with the checks above. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
