What E06 actually means
The control board has lost the signal that tells it how fast the drum motor is turning, so it shuts the cycle down.
E06 is "Motor Failure - 1", specifically an open or short circuit on the motor's tachometer (the small speed sensor on the motor) or the motor plug being disconnected. The board relies on that feedback to control drum speed, and with no sensible reading it stops rather than run the motor blind. It's flagged in the manual as a service-only code, which is why there is no friendly on-screen explanation to go with it.
What E06 looks like on a Montpellier tumble dryer

What usually causes it
- A failed tachometer coil on the motor
- The motor connector loose or knocked off, often after the machine has been moved
- Chafed or broken wiring between the motor and the control board
- A worn or seized motor
- A fault on the control board's motor circuit
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and start a short cycle — a one-off glitch can clear
- Take out some of the load; a heavily packed drum can stall the motor and prompt a motor error
- Open the door and check nothing has fallen down the side of the drum and jammed it, and that the drum turns freely by hand
- If the machine has recently been moved or slid back into place, that is worth mentioning to the engineer — a dislodged motor plug is a common finding
