Neff F43 washing machine: what it means & what to check

What F43 actually means

The machine has stopped because the drum isn't turning as the control board expects it to.

On Bosch-group machines — which is what Neff washers are underneath — F43 sits in the same family of faults as F42 and F44, all of which point at the motor and its drive circuit rather than water or drainage. The control board is asking the motor for a certain speed, isn't getting it, and shuts the programme down instead of carrying on. You'll usually see it part-way through a wash or as it tries to build up to a spin, with the drum sitting still or turning only in fits and starts.

What F43 looks like on a Neff washing machine

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and try a short programme — a one-off glitch will sometimes clear
Open the door and turn the drum by hand: it should spin freely. If it feels stiff or grinds, stop there and book an engineer
Check nothing has escaped the drum and wedged behind it, such as a bra wire or a coin
