What E00 actually means
The touch control panel on the front of the dryer has lost contact with the main circuit board that runs the machine, so nothing can be started.
On these heat pump models the touchscreen panel and the main board sit in separate places and talk to each other constantly. E00 is raised by the panel itself when that conversation stops — it is still powered and lit, but it is getting nothing back from the board controlling the compressor, motor and pump. The dryer stops rather than run blind, so programmes either won't start or drop out part way through with the warning LEDs blinking quickly.
What E00 looks like on a New World tumble dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a New World tumble dryer, E00 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Not drying
- Blowing cold air
- Clothes still damp at the end
- Takes hours to dry
- Drum not turning
- Won't spin
- Hums or buzzes but nothing moves
- Turns one way only
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- The ribbon or wiring link between the display panel and the main board has worked loose or corroded
- A failed main control board no longer sending data
- A failed touch display board
- Damp getting into the connections, common in garages and unheated utility rooms
- A power supply disturbance that has left the two boards out of step
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the dryer off at the wall socket, leave it for a minute or two, then switch back on — a genuine one-off glitch between the boards will often clear and not return
- Check the machine is plugged straight into a wall socket rather than through an extension lead or timer plug
Which New World models show E00
E00 means the same thing on all 2 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
