New World E06 tumble dryer: what it means & what to check

What E06 actually means

The control board has lost the speed signal from the motor, so it can't tell whether the drum is turning and shuts the cycle down.

On these New World machines E06 is logged as "Motor Failure - 1" — the tachometer circuit on the motor is open or short circuit, or the motor's connector has come adrift. The board relies on that feedback to control drum speed, and with no readable signal it stops rather than run the motor blind. Typically the drum either doesn't turn at all or starts and immediately halts. Worth noting that the manufacturer classes E06 as a service-level code rather than one meant for the customer, so it's a fault diagnosis rather than something you're expected to correct.

What usually causes it

The small speed sensor (tachometer) coil on the motor has failed

A fault on the main control board's motor circuit

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and try a short cycle — a one-off glitch can clear.
Take the load out and check nothing is wedged around the drum stopping it turning freely by hand.
Don't keep restarting it repeatedly if the code returns straight away.
