Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What E07 actually means

The dryer has stopped because the drum motor isn't turning as it should — either the drum is jammed or the motor has lost its electrical connection.

On these New World heat pump dryers the control board watches the drum motor. If it sends the command to turn and gets nothing back, or the motor is stalled and can't move the drum, it shuts the cycle down and shows E07. The usual symptom is a machine that lights up and starts, but the drum never rotates, or it hums briefly and gives up.

What E07 looks like on a New World tumble dryer

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a New World tumble dryer, E07 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Machine door won't open
  • Door won't lock or click shut
  • Door lock light flashing
  • Door stuck shut with the load inside
  • Won't start even with the door closed
  • Not drying
  • Blowing cold air
  • Clothes still damp at the end

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • Drum jammed — a sock, wire or small item wedged between drum and casing
  • Worn or seized drum support wheels, so the motor cannot turn the drum
  • The motor's plug has worked loose from the control board
  • Failed drum motor
  • Snagged or damaged wiring to the motor

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Switch off at the wall and leave it a minute, then power up and try a short programme — a one-off fault can clear
  2. Open the door and check nothing has fallen down the side of the drum or is trapped at the front seal
  3. With the machine switched off at the wall, try turning the drum by hand: if it won't move freely, or grinds, something is mechanically wrong and it needs an engineer
  4. Clean the fluff filter and, on heat pump models, check the lower condenser filter isn't clogged so a restart isn't fighting a blocked airflow

E07 means the same thing on all 14 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
