What E09 actually means

The dryer has measured the electricity coming in as too high or too low to run safely, so it has stopped and shown a voltage error.

New World's control board watches the incoming mains supply while the machine runs. If it reads outside the range it expects, it aborts the programme rather than risk the motor and heater, and puts E09 on the display. It is one of the few codes on this platform that the manufacturer intends the user to see, rather than a service-only code — which is a hint that the cause is often outside the appliance.

What E09 looks like on a New World tumble dryer

A fault in the voltage-sensing part of the dryer's control board

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the dryer off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and restart the programme.
Plug it straight into a wall socket on its own — no extension lead, adaptor or timer plug.
Try a different wall socket, ideally on a different circuit, and see whether the code follows the machine.
Note whether other appliances in the house are flickering or tripping at the same time; if so the problem is your supply, not the dryer.
If the plug or socket feels warm, looks scorched or the pins are loose, stop using it and get an electrician to look before anything else.
