What E14 actually means
The machine has flagged a problem with its Twinjet system and stopped the programme.
E14 is recorded as a Twinjet failure — the control board is not getting the response it expects from that part of the machine. Beyond the name of the fault, the fault we hold do not set out how the check is made or what conditions trigger it, so we are not going to speculate about the cause.
What E14 looks like on a New World tumble dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a New World tumble dryer, E14 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Machine door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut
- Door lock light flashing
- Door stuck shut with the load inside
- Won't start even with the door closed
- No function at all
- Dead — nothing lights up
- Lights flashing and nothing happening
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- A fault in the Twinjet assembly itself
- A loose or damaged connection between the control board and that part
- A control board that is misreading the component
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and start a cycle — one-off electronic glitches sometimes clear
- Check the door shuts with a definite click, as an unlatched door can stop a programme before it properly starts
Which New World models show E14
E14 means the same thing on all 12 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
