What E50 actually means

The display/control board is running the wrong software, so the machine won't accept the programme you've selected.

On these New World washer dryers the control panel with the display talks to the main board, and each board has to be loaded with software that matches the model. E50 is raised when the machine finds the software on the LCD control board is the wrong version for it — nothing mechanical has failed, no heater, motor or pump is at fault. It stops there because it cannot trust the programme instructions being passed between the boards. Its sibling code E51 covers the same problem on the motor (BLDC) board.

What E50 looks like on a New World tumble dryer

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the machine off at the wall socket, leave it for a minute, then switch back on and try the programme again — occasionally the boards re-establish contact
Make sure the door is shut firmly enough to click, and that the child lock isn't switched on, so you can rule out the simpler reasons it won't start
