New World E02 tumble dryer: what it means & what to check

What E02 actually means

The control board has not seen the water it expected to arrive, so it has stopped the programme rather than run dry.

On this control platform E02 is logged as "lack of water" — the machine called for a fill, waited, and did not detect the level rising as it should. It is one of only a handful of faults (E01 to E04) that the manufacturer allows the user to see on the display; the rest are hidden and only appear in the engineer's service autotest. Note that these models share their control board with washer-dryers, so a water-fill fault code can appear on a display where an owner would not expect one.

What E02 looks like on a New World tumble dryer

What usually causes it

Water supply tap turned off or only part open
Kinked or trapped fill hose behind the machine
Blocked filter in the inlet hose or inlet valve
Low mains water pressure at the time of the fill
Faulty inlet valve or level/pressure sensing on the control board

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Check the water supply tap behind or under the machine is fully open
Look behind the appliance and make sure the fill hose is not kinked, trapped or crushed against the wall
Run a nearby cold tap to confirm you have normal mains pressure
Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power back up and restart the programme
