What C04 actually means

The drum has not been able to spin properly because the load inside is unbalanced.

On these top-loading Beko machines the control checks that the tub comes up to speed evenly. If the washing has settled to one side — or one heavy item has wrapped itself into a lump — the tub wobbles instead of spinning, so the machine gives up and shows this code rather than thrashing the suspension. It usually appears at the spin stage, often with water still sitting in the tub.

What C04 looks like on a Beko washing machine

What usually causes it

Washing bunched to one side of the tub
One bulky item on its own — a duvet, towel bathmat or heavy coat
Machine overloaded, or far too little in it
Appliance not sitting level, or standing on a soft or springy floor
Suspension or drive fault if it happens on every load

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Open the lid, spread the washing out evenly around the tub and restart a spin
If it was a single heavy item, add a couple of towels to help it balance
Take some out if the tub is packed tight
Check the machine isn't rocking on the floor — a foot that isn't sitting firmly will cause repeat trips
Turn it off at the wall for a minute, then power back up and try a spin only
