What E05 actually means
The machine can't pump the water out — the drain pump isn't working or is blocked.
Beko's control board watches the drain pump and stops the programme if the pump doesn't run or the water doesn't go away. That can be because something is jamming the pump, the drain route is blocked, or the pump (or the board circuit that drives it) has failed. Typically the drum stays full of water and the machine won't spin, or the cycle drags on and never finishes.
What E05 looks like on a Beko washing machine
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Beko washing machine, E05 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Machine not draining
- Water left in the drum at the end of the cycle
- Stops mid-cycle full of water
- Standing water in the bottom
- Drum not turning
- Won't spin
- Hums or buzzes but nothing moves
- Turns one way only
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- Blocked pump filter — coins, hair grips, buttons, fluff
- Kinked, blocked or badly fitted drain hose, or a blocked sink standpipe
- Something wrapped round the pump impeller stopping it turning
- Failed drain pump motor
- Fault on the control board circuit that powers the pump, or low mains voltage
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and try a drain or spin programme.
- Clean the pump filter at the bottom front of the machine — bail the water out into a bowl first and have towels down.
- Check the drain hose isn't kinked, squashed behind the machine or pushed too far down the standpipe.
- If the hose goes into a sink trap or standpipe, check that isn't blocked with grease or debris.

Can I fix Beko E05 myself?
There are 4 checks you can safely do yourself first.
This sometimes clears with those checks. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly.
