Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What E07 actually means

The machine can't get a sensible reading from the part that tells it how much water is in the drum, so it won't start the wash.

A pressure (water level) sensor tells the control board how full the drum is. When that signal is missing or nonsensical, the machine stops rather than risk overfilling or heating a dry drum. A common symptom is the machine pumping out water every time you switch it on, or the programme never getting going.

What usually causes it

  • The sensor's plug has worked loose or the wiring to it has come adrift
  • The small pressure hose to the sensor is kinked, split or blocked with sludge
  • A faulty water level sensor
  • A fault on the main control board

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch it back on and try a short programme — occasional one-off glitches clear this way
  2. Check the drain hose isn't kinked or pushed too far down the standpipe
  3. Clean out the pump filter at the bottom front and make sure the drum is empty of standing water

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
