What E13 actually means
The machine's main control board has lost contact with the motor's own control board, so it stops the wash.
On these Beko machines the motor has its own electronics that take instructions from the main control board over a communication cable. If that link drops out — a loose plug, a damaged cable, or a fault in either board or the motor itself — the machine can't drive the drum reliably, so it ends the programme and shows E13. You may also notice it draining as soon as it's switched on, or washing badly with little or no drum movement.
What usually causes it
- Loose or dislodged plug on the motor communication cable
- Damaged or chafed wiring between the main board and the motor board
- Faulty motor control board
- Faulty main control board
- Fault in the motor windings itself
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and try a short programme — occasional one-off glitches clear this way
- Check the door is closing and latching properly before starting
- Make sure the machine hasn't been knocked or moved recently, and that the mains plug is fully home in the socket
