What E20 actually means

The machine has found a fault in the circuit that locks and releases the door, and the usual symptom is that the door stays locked.

E20 is the door lock circuit being shorted — either the solenoid lock itself or the switching device on the main control board that feeds it. Because the machine can no longer be sure the door is safely under its control, it halts and holds the door shut rather than allowing a cycle to run.

What E20 looks like on a Beko washing machine

Check nothing (a towel corner, a sock) is trapped in the door seal holding the catch under strain
Make sure the door is pushed firmly shut and the catch lines up with the lock, not sitting proud
