What E25 actually means
The control panel and the main circuit board inside the machine have stopped talking to each other, so nothing will run.
Your washing machine has two electronic boards: the display/control panel you press, and the main driver board that actually operates the motor, pump and valves. E25 means the display board is no longer receiving or sending signals to the driver board, usually because of a loose plug, a damaged cable or a board that has lost its low-voltage supply. Because the machine can't trust its own controls, it refuses to start, or ends a programme early.
What usually causes it
- A connector between the control panel and main board has worked loose
- Damaged or broken wiring between the two boards
- No low-voltage supply reaching the main board from the power board
- Faulty main driver board
- Faulty display/control board
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Switch the machine off at the wall socket, leave it for a minute, then switch back on — this clears one-off glitches
- Check the plug and socket are sound and the machine is getting power normally
- If the error clears, run a short empty cycle to see whether it returns
When to call someone
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above.
