What E03 actually means
The machine has spotted that its water heater is staying on when it shouldn't be, so it has stopped the wash to stop the water overheating.
Beko's control board watches the heating element and expects to switch it on and off as needed. With E03 it has detected the heater is permanently live \u2014 usually a short circuit in the element itself or a failed switching component on the board. The machine abandons the programme rather than carry on, because uncontrolled heating could damage the load and the machine.
What usually causes it
- Heating element has gone short circuit
- Faulty switching relay or triac on the main control board
- Damaged or chafed wiring to the heater
- Water or heavy limescale damage around the heater connections
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back on and try a short cold programme \u2014 if E03 returns, it is a genuine fault
- Note whether the machine gets hot or the cycle stops early, as this helps the engineer

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above.
