What E01 actually means

The fridge freezer has lost a reliable reading from one of its temperature sensors, so the control board flags a fault rather than guessing at the cooling.

On these electriQ models this code points at a sensor circuit rather than the cooling system itself — on the wine coolers it is the upper zone temperature sensor reading as an open circuit, on the side-by-side it is the freezer evaporator sensor, and on the convertible freezer it is logged as a temperature sensor failure. The board can no longer tell how cold that compartment actually is, so it stops running to its normal set point and shows the code, often flashing on the display for the zone at fault. The compressor may still cut in and out on a fallback pattern, which is why some owners see the code while the cabinet still feels cold.

Turn the appliance off at the socket for a minute and back on — a genuine sensor fault will come straight back, a one-off glitch may not
Check the door is closing fully and the seal is not folded or held open by a shelf or bottle, as constant warm air makes icing worse
Make sure the vents inside are not blocked by packed-in food, and that there is clear space at the back for airflow
Check the room it stands in is not unusually cold or hot — these models are rated for normal domestic room temperatures
Check food temperatures with a fridge or freezer thermometer if you have one, so you know whether it is still holding cold
