What E05 actually means

The appliance has lost the signal from the temperature sensor in the lower compartment, so it can no longer tell how cold that zone is.

On these electriQ dual zone wine coolers, each zone has its own temperature sensor feeding the control board. E5 (shown as E05) means the lower zone sensor has gone open circuit \u2014 the connection has broken rather than shorted, which is what the companion E6 code indicates. With no usable reading, the cooler stops controlling that zone properly and shows the fault instead of a temperature.

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power back up \u2014 occasionally the code clears if it was a one-off read error
Check nothing stored in the lower zone is pressing against the interior back wall or dislodging anything
Note whether the upper zone still cools normally, which helps the engineer confirm it is the lower sensor and not the whole board
