What E06 actually means

The appliance has lost a sensible reading from one of its temperature sensors and has flagged it rather than carry on guessing.

On the dual zone wine coolers, E06 is specifically the lower zone temperature sensor reading as a short circuit — the control board is seeing a signal it knows cannot be a real temperature (E05 is the same sensor reading as an open circuit instead). On the electriQ freezer These machines group E06 with the sensor and communication faults, so the meaning is the same family of problem. With no trustworthy reading, the board can no longer control cooling in that zone properly, so the compartment may sit too warm or run colder than the setting you have chosen.

Control board fault misreading the sensor — less common but does happen

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the appliance off at the socket for a minute, then switch it back on — a genuine sensor fault will return within a few minutes, a one-off glitch will not
Check the door is closing and sealing fully, and that nothing is holding it ajar
Make sure bottles, shelves or packed food are not pressed hard against the back wall of the compartment
Note whether one zone or compartment is actually the wrong temperature, and tell the engineer — it saves diagnosis time
