What E10 actually means
The control panel thinks one of its buttons is being held down when it shouldn't be.
On the EIQFS185FZ the panel watches how long each button is pressed. If a button reads as permanently pressed, the appliance flags E10 as a stuck button and stops accepting further commands, so you can't change temperature or mode. It's shown the same way in both fridge and freezer mode, with the relevant temperature indicators lit alongside the code. The compressor usually carries on cooling — it's the controls that are locked out, not the refrigeration.
What E10 looks like on a ElectriQ fridge freezer

What usually causes it
- A button physically sticking in its housing, often from spilled liquid or sticky residue
- Moisture or condensation behind the touch/membrane panel
- Something resting against the panel and holding a button in
- A failed panel or membrane where a contact has shorted internally
- A fault in the control board reading the button inputs
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Look for anything leaning on or taped over the control panel and move it clear.
- Wipe the panel over with a barely damp cloth and dry it thoroughly — no sprays or cleaners directly onto the buttons.
- Press each button once in turn with a dry finger and let it come back up; a button that stays down or feels tacky is your culprit.
- Turn the appliance off at the socket for a minute, then switch back on — a genuine transient reading will clear, a stuck contact will bring the code straight back.
