What E07 actually means
The freezer's control board has lost a sensible reading from one of its temperature sensors — the ambient sensor, going by electriQ's the fault — so it flags a fault rather than a cooling problem.
On the EIQFS185FZ, the control board relies on a small group of sensors to decide when to run the compressor and when to defrost. E07 sits in the same family of sensor faults as E01 (cabinet temperature sensor) and E05 (defrost sensor), and the manual lists it as an ambient-side sensor failure. The cabinet will often carry on cooling after a fashion, but the board is working on incomplete information, so temperatures can drift and the frost-free defrost cycle may not behave properly.
What E07 looks like on a ElectriQ fridge freezer

What usually causes it
- A failed sensor, or one that has gone out of range
- A loose or corroded plug on the sensor lead at the control board
- Damp or condensation around the sensor wiring
- A fault on the control board itself, which misreads a perfectly good sensor
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the appliance off at the wall, wait a couple of minutes, then switch back on — a genuine one-off glitch will clear and not return
- Check the freezer isn't standing somewhere unusually hot or cold (an unheated garage, next to an oven, in direct sun), as an ambient reading well outside the design range can trigger a warning
- Make sure the vents at the back and the gap above the appliance are clear and it isn't pushed hard against the wall
- Check the door is closing fully onto its seal and the cabinet isn't over-packed so air can't circulate
